In Language Arts we are reading short stories and then having a project to do with the story. With the short story "Last Cover," we are creating a glogster about two characters from the book and then telling what is the same and different about each character. Now we are creating a story about the scariest moment of our lives. Mine was when I got my leg cut open. You can open the link below to read about my scariest moment. We are working on poetry, really boring stuff, like personification, alliteration, consonance, assonance, and other kinds. We have to write our own poems and also she gives us examples of poems and we have to decide what type of poetry it is.
In reading, we are reading The Westing Game, and filling out questions about every chapter. After about five chapters we have a quiz on the last chapters that we read, so we have to keep up reading. We are still readingThe Westing Game, almost finished with it, at which point I think we will have a test over the whole book. We have to read daily and record how much we read, also. We had to read a classic novel, like Old Yeller, and then we had to shorten it into a children's book and then read it to a 4th grader. I read Old Yeller and it was pretty easy to turn it into a children's book.
My goal for these classes are not to have any late assignments for one quarter in a row.
